Noxious Weeds
Council continues to pay close attention to the control and eradication of noxious plants throughout the Shire.
The Weeds Unit is equipped with an 8 metre boom spray and a Quikspray 30 metre hose reel for handgun work.
GPS units linked to a GIS mapping program are used to map weed infestations across the Shire.
Council is an active member of the Western Riverina Noxious Weeds Advisory Group (WRNWAG) and currently acts as the Secretariat for the organisation. For more information regarding WRNWAG please contact Council's Noxious Weeds Inspector.
What is a Noxious Plant?
Although there are many plants that could be classed as weeds, only those plants which have a detrimental effect or cause serious economic loss to agriculture or the environment are considered as candidates for declaration as noxious plants. There are five classes of noxious weeds within NSW.
