First elected to Council in 1977, Laurie has held the position of Shire President in 1980/1981 and 1989/1990, and Mayor in 1994/1995, 1995/1996 and 1996/1997.
Born in 1947, Laurie has a background in Hospital management.
He currently holds the position of SES officer and is delegate to the Central Murray Area Consultative Committee (CMACC).
Laurie is considered the unofficial Historian of Jerilderie, enjoying researching Jerilderie's past. He also enjoys golf and is involved in junior sport. Laurie has lived in Jerilderie Shire for 39 years.
